question about calories burned

I went for our usual 30 minute walk today with my 3 kids and our dog while pushing the double stroller. Sometimes with 2 in , most times with just the baby in. We had several stops and starts but i also kept a fast pace when I was walking and some was up hills. I hope I burned more than what the calorie burning calculator says but I don't know what to put. I also don't know how to account for the stops and starts. It is interval training at its most extreme. I have tried not to eat my calories burned according to the calculator so I won't go over. Any suggestions on how to get a more accurate idea of calories burned?

Without using a heart rate monitor, I'd recommend logging your route at www.walkjogrun.net.
You can create a (free) account and then plug in your weight, and it will calculate your calorie burn based on time and the route you mapped out. If you take your actual weight and add some on to account for the weight you are pushing, maybe that will give you a more accurate number? Not completely accurate, of course, but...... hope it helps!0 -
Very helpful, thanks0

I just mapped my route on that site, and input all my time and weight data...my HRM gave me 312 calories and that site gave me 299! So it was accurate except for 13 calories!
I say that is mighty darn good....
And I also figured out another route to use! Thanks!0
