    You are better served by running 30 minutes at endurance pace if that is the specified workout duration.

    Amen. And given a few posts down that OP is racing a 76min 10k (12:13 pace, hills be darned), I'd say easy>speedwork at every opportunity.

    You can build a surprising amount of "speed" simply by running a few thousand miles at endurance paces without ever playing with "speed work". Your endurance pace simply gets faster as the months go by and you become more fit (and likely lighter).
