well it looks like the cold bug has gotten me. I have ate so well this week and want to make homemade chicken noodle soup. I have some basic healthier recipes fr Pinterest. They don't give calorie counts, but if I sub low sodium chicken broth in, then it mainly just chicken, carrots, celery, onion, fresh spices and some egg noodles. Hard to calculate the total cal, but I'm gonna guess about 150 a cup?? Anyone have an opinion? It would be crazy hard to add up each little ingredient.

Try this site's recipe builder and estimate the number of servings:

I would just use the MFP recipe builder & hit the major ingredients. Scan the barcodes of the broth & noodles, weigh the chicken & vegetables if you can, and frankly I wouldn't worry about the spices. Estimating how many 'servings' is always the hardest part for me, but you can always go back and change that.

(Edit to tell you that you can also import recipes from websites. The ingredients don't always match so double check and adjust the amounts if you need to. Sometimes they're so wrong I just start over and put them in one by one myself. But I imported a pancake recipe from Allrecipes the other day that copied over almost perfectly. (I was surprised.) So it's a good place to start.)

I put my recipes in the database, portion out my soup into zip lock containers with the screw on lids until the pan is empty, count the number of containers filled and use that to figure my servings. Then I freeze or refrigerate the leftovers.
