Does anyone else keep plateauing with the total body workouts?

i do total body workouts for the majority of y training (I.e. Jillian michaels various workouts, bob Harper, etc.) and I keep plateauing even though each workout I do is different and causes me to be sore. I change it up with more cardio centric workouts like kickboxig, biking, speed walking, etc. but my cake says the se number every week. Not one once higher or lower. I've dropped 40lbs to date, so maybe it's just my time to plateau?? I've tried eating more, eating less (but never below 1200-1300 calories), drinking tons of water, eating more protein. I'm just at a standstill. I did take my measurements at the beginning of February, and I am guessing I should wait to take them
Again till march. Just so frustrated. Wondered if anyone has experienced or is experiencing the same thing.

There's only so far one can advance with Fitness DVDs. Start a structured, progressive program or forever spin your wheels

Weight loss will largely be due to nutrition and you definitely don't want to go too low in your calories. It could just be a plateau and you'll just need to be patient through it. Ultimately how much exercise or changing exercise isn't going to matter too much.

Being sore is not the sign of an effective workout. Soreness is the sign of something you need to work on and the only way to work on it is to continue doing the same thing. Instead of switching, try doing the same thing for a while. The whole concept of "Muscle Confusion" is one of the biggest pieces of BS, perhaps Beach Body and Dr. Oz are business partners because they put-out a lot of BS for sure.

How long have you been stuck? Stalls happen and if you haven't experienced one yet, you're lucky!

If you do everything right, results will follow. I'm at the point where I'm starting to feel like every pound is a struggle so I understand.

Thanks everyone. I was stuck for about 4 weeks. Dropped 2lbs this week and I think it was my changing into higher weight/lower rep and more muscle concentration. Just trying to bust through it. I constantly change it up (meaning every couple of weeks or so) after my muscles get used to what I'm doing. They adapt very fast and I just up me weights when they do. I can't do weeks and weeks of the same thing. Even 30 day shred I have to change levels every day. I trust the process, but it can just be frustrating.

What was your expected loss through those 4 weeks? If you are supposed to be dropping .5 lbs a week and dropped 2 after 4 weeks then you are on track, sometimes weight loss is not linear. I have had periods where I don't lose for a few weeks and then lose it all at once. I don't really have a perfect explination for it, I think there are many contributing factors, but hey in the end a win is a win.

Honestly, just losing something every week is my goal. I know I won't be a consistent 1-2lbs a week like I was before, so I'm trying not to rely on the scale as much as taking measurements and paying attention to how my clothes fit.

I have been experiencing the same thing, I was doing body revolution up to week 4 and also doing c25k 3 times a week and just walking on the tredmill for 60 min the other days and my weight has stayed the same for 3 weeks. Its very frustrating, I am staying in my calorie allotment. I switched to 30day shred yesterday to see if that change will help.

so it sounds like you are eating at the same calorie goal as when you started? If that is the case there is nothing wrong with that but you will be losing slower than when you were 40 lbs heavier, since you were burning more then because you were larger. As you lose your TDEE gets smaller so if you calorie goal stays the same your deficit is slowly shrinking, therefore you weight loss is slowing. Wich is how this is supposed to work, thats why people are always saying you need to have a loss rate approptiate for your goal. It does not really sound like you are doing anything wrong to me, just maybe need to adjust your expectations a little bit?

I change my calorie goals every 10lbs or so. If I follow a strict calorie regimen, I really don't see an improvement. After meeting with a dietician, I should be between 1800 and 2200 calories depends on my workouts, where apps like this tell me around like 1400-1500. That is way too low for me. Complex carbs and lean proteins are my foods of choice.

My expectations have lessened dramatically. I just didn't think that being at my current weight that Id plateau on the scale so much, but I am building a ton of muscle and it takes a while for everything to catch up. I know I'll get there, it can just be a frustrating process.

I know when I changed to 30DS for the first time, things changed very quickly! JM is fantastic, and I do a lot of her workouts. Also, give Bob Harpers inside out method workouts a try. They're insanely hard, but fabulous! Good luck!
