Interesting article today from CNN on cholesterol in food.

http://www.cnn.com/2015/02/19/health/dietary-guidelines/index.html

I have read a lot of people talking about cholesterol not being an issue but never quite understood. I had high cholesterol (LDL bad) and reduced my dietary intake of cholesterol laden foods. LDL went down. adding more eggs and shellfish now. Interesting to see what happens to my levels. Hope they stay down because I love all of the above.

It takes a lot of work for your body to manufacture cholesterol, so eat it and give your body a break.

Jpaulie thanks for that information. Unfortunately I was just recently prescribed cholesterol medicat. How ironic that this would be at the top of this discussion page. Thanks again for sharing.

Me too, I have to take 10mg Crestor daily. I have way high cholesterol naturally. Some folks' body chemistry is just wacky for no good reason.

Diet and exercise are the best routes to lower cholesterol but for some of us that doesn't overcome our genetic predisposition to high cholesterol. So far, statins seem to be the drugs of choice. In most people there are very few side effects. Having said that, if your cholesterol is bad enough to take statins, you should still hold up your end of the bargain and change your diet and get some moderate exercise most days.
