Fitness activity trackers question

hi all! I recently got a Jawbone UP24 fitness band to help track my fitness. My question is when does it know to add calories to myfitnesspal based on steps? For example I walked 11,428 steps today but no calorie adjustment in myfitnesspal. I thought walking that many steps would give me something? I know they are synced because I can see where they are pulling in other data from one another. Do you guys usually see a calorie adjustment if you walk that many steps? Just not sure how it works.

Thanks in advance.

I have up 2nd generation it only adjusted if I walk over 19,000.

It does it automatically. I'm guessing mine does at least every 15 minutes, because they're just there.

What activity level do you have set on here? If you're not down as sedentary then your activity is already factored into your calorie allowance. I have a fitbit and have activity level set to sedentary on here. I'm far from sedentary and I usually get an extra 600 or so calories added from my fitbit for doing between 12k-15k steps.

Depends on your activity level setting

I'm sedentary with negative calories enables...it takes me to 2500-4000 steps to hit sedentary and start logging calories with my fitbit, workouts I enter separately on MFP using my HRM as a guide

I have mine set to lightly active. Should I change it to sedentary?

You can learn more in the Jawbone UP Bracelet group: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/13420-jawbone-up-bracelet

Your UP total burn is your TDEE (aka your maintenance calories). Your adjustments are the difference between your UP total burn & your MFP activity level. (Click on an adjustment to see MFP's math.)

Log non-step exercise (like swimming or biking) in the UP app. And enable negative adjustments: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/diary_settings
