Hi There ,
I currently weigh 8 stone 9 which is around 120lbs.
I want to lose 5/6 pounds to get back down to my normal ideal weight!
Please could anyone advise the best way to do this and how quickly It will take to get rid of these last few pounds?
Ideally I don't want it to take longer than a month !
Many thanks!

Nope. You're asking for advice on how to do something that is generally ill-advised. I'm sure someone will be along to tell you what you want to hear but it won't be me.0

10 weeks, cutting 250 calories from your maintenance levels and carefully weighing and logging your food and moving more

Sure... If you want to gain to back plus more... Eat less than your metabolic set point, cut calories, eat zero sugar, and cardio it away.
You can also try fad diets and pills/potions for $300.
Its all jeopardy at that point.0 -
5-6 pounds in 5-6 weeks is a pretty normal rate, why are you saying that's too much for her? It's not like she said she wanted to lose that by monday or anything.0

Because when you don't have that much fat to lose, a higher deficit can make the person lose more muscle, as well as potentially not getting adequate nutrition needs for their body.
OP, it will take some time since you're at such a low weight. How tall are you?0 -

Erm actually its safe to lose 2 pounds every week, unless your horrific at Maths then 2 X 4 is 8 pounds in a month which is probably ill advised and not what I am trying to lose. Grr pointless comment.

I used to eat junk food constantly but I've changed my diet to breakfast: greek yoghurt and granola, lunch: 2 tins of tuna and 2 apples, dinner: either salmon and scrambled eggs or chicken broccoli and brown rice, I am 5ft 3 and do moderate exercise and strength training, I have only been doing this a week or so, if I continue on this healthy eating plan how much could I ideally lose in a month?
Many thanks!

No it's not ...2lb a week is safe if you have over 75lbs to lose
Not that you would die or anything just that you would lose more LBM than necessary and water weight reduction would mask a lot of fat loss so it would come back just as fast
Under a stone to lose ...try 0.5lbs a week ideally, 1lb if you must0 -
How tall are you, will 5lb make a visible difference?0

When you have a lot of weight to lose, it is safe to lose up to 2lbs a week. The less weight you have to lose, the less weight you should ideally lose a week. As someone said above, when you have just a little weight to lose, a .5lb/week is best to preserve muscle. Just keep doing what you said you were doing and see what happens. No one can really say how much you'll lose because so many different things affect weight.0 -

My normal weight is 8 stone exactly, I have been that way for the past 4/5 years, I have only put on weight this past year, I don't want to get back down to 8 stone exactly because I do feel that was too thin. I want to be around 8 stone 3, I have a very petite frame and am 5ft 3inches tall. 8 stone 3 is in the healthy BMI range for my age and height0 -
Maths are simpler if you do 5-6 weeks instead of 1 month. 1 pound per week = a deficit of 500 calories per day. If you want 6 pounds in 1 month (instead of 4) then you'd need a deficit of 750 per day. Weigh and measure everything you eat and drink, and log it. Don't guess at portion sizes. Don't overestimate your calorie burns when you exercise - at 120 pounds you are not burning massive calories when you exercise. Then be careful when you go back to normal eating and exercise or you'll just gain it all back with some extra.
The trick is that 5-6 pounds is not much, so it won't necessarily show on the scale like you think. Your scale won't go down in a linear fashion to a nice, sweet number. Frustrating, I know! My weight fluctuates up to 5 pounds in a day if I've had salty food or too much to eat. Sometimes I've lost a little weight, but I don't see it until after TOM is over, etc.
Another option, rather than focusing so much on 5 pounds (which can fluctuate a lot), is to work on how your clothes feel and how strong you are. The 115 pounds is just a number. It doesn't mean you're skinny or fit or healthy. In the last year, my weight has barely changed. However through strength training and walking I've dropped a clothing size. Would I like to see a smaller number when I step on the scale? Heck yes! But am I happy to be stronger, healthier, and smaller? You bet!0 -

What you eat doesn't matter so much for weight loss as to how much you eat.
Weightloss is all about Calories IN vs Calories OUT.

Eat deficit exercise to the point of lightly active or more. Simple as that.0

I wasn't asking for BMI purposes but more for what do you want to achieve with the 5lbs
At my height 5lb on the scale would have no visible impact on my 5'8 frame and I can easily put on that much with a hormonal flux around menstruation or ovulation, or even a change-up in exercise
You may want to consider a progressive lifting programme instead if you want to tighten things or have your body "look better" ..even if not it would still be beneficial in helping preserve LBM as you drop calories

No, lol I gained it from about June - December 2014! I was nearly 9 stone but I lost about 5 pounds since then!0 -
What's the rush to get it off quickly? If you shoot for .5 a week for the next 10 weeks, you'll be golden. Burn more calories than you consume. Simple.0
