Umm. No. Hence the "friends" part of the title.

Exactly. At the same time, I don't think have a FWB is fair to anyone who you end up dating and should be stopped if you find someone to date.

So it's kinda the same result - exclusivity - without the hurt feelings if you say "I'm not going to fool around with you this week, I've got a date".

So a week is the "no sex buffer" for a date?

I think once you realize you have a real romantic interest (as opposed to just flirty eyes with the grocery clerk) you cut off the FWB connection.

I imagine it would avoid some potential awkwardness.

No. That's why they're called a "FRIEND with benefits".. Not a boyfriend or girlfriend.

How do I get on with an employer that offers such a benefit package?!

And that is what I would call cheating.

would not call that dating, FWB is different
dating = looking for a serious relationship

its not cheating, you aren't exclusive with someone you are just dating

I guess I have been dating wrong my whole life. Your second comment is true but I let you explain that to couples.

BTW my answer to my own question agrees with y'all. I am doing whatever needs to be done to keep it this way for a little while at least.

What about swinger couples? Are they cheating if they have FWB's that the other partner knows about and approves of?
