HR Monitors

Hi Guys, and thanks in advance for any responses.
From your experience, do you feel that heart rate monitors are accurate for tracking calories, and well worth the money, or are there just too many issues that you're better off using the calorie counter on the cardio equipment?
Also, can you recommend a preferred HR monitor and even the units I should avoid at all costs... ?
I've read a lot of reviews and I'm getting information from "my watch picks up the HR from the guy beside me" to "I've burnt 1500 calories in 20mins" and this is making my decision difficult.
Cheers

I've been using the Fitbit Charge HR, so far very happy with it. I use it to calculate my calorie burn during workouts. The tech behind it is very solid. There is still a margin of error but so far its been fairly on point. Would definitely recommend it. It's been a great tool worth the $150 IMO. I wouldn't trust the cardio equipment it's an estimation and works off averages a wearable will be far more accurate.0

HRMs are useful. But I've had as much success with a HRM estimate as I did with MFP estimates.
Only you can decide if they are worth it.0 -
