I am trying to decide if I should spend the money on a personal trainer for 6 months or just buy my own weights for home and go at it myself by researching weight training etc.....
Anyone have any thought? Do you train on your own? What about form?
Thanks in advance!!

There's not really anything the trainer can do for you that you can't do for yourself. I'd either use the weights at a gym or invest in your own if you'd like. The nice thing about going to the gym is you have a lot of different equipment at your disposal. I would research the different kinds of lifts and look up lots of youtube videos on what the form should be for each. Come up with a good plan to hit the majority of the muscles in your body through various lifts broken up into a few different sessions. It will be a learning experience!0

I train at home out of necessity. I work out in the morning because it's the best time for me to be consistent. My husband does also. Since we have kids, and he uses the gym, I need to stay home. (There's no way we could afford the type of weight he lifts.) Anyway. My husband has helped me with form, and I've watched videos and looked at books and gotten him to form check me many times once I went up in weight. If you do It by yourself, start slow, with just the bar or no weight to really get form perfect. Could you do 2 or three sessions with a trainer, purely to workout form, then workout at home? I just don't think you'd need 6 months worth of coaching just to get form down, whether or you're working out at home or the gym. But, trainers are good for more than just form, so there's that, too.0

I built an entire (strength) gym in my garage to the tune of about way too damn much money. Since I wouldn't have access to a trainer, I do a lot of research, watch a lot of videos from the experts (Like Elite FTS.)
it's not for everyone. Many pro lifters, bodybuilders, powerlifters, prefer NOT to work out in a home gym. Even Arnold says "Don't do eeeeet."0 -
