So... I've been trying to do the 30 squat challenge and got to day 10 when I had the most awful crunch in my knee, and now it's very painful.
I'm looking for anyone to give me some advice on what other butt exercises I can do without bending my knee too much? Any advice is greatfully received

This is a really excellent question to ask your doctor and the physical therapist s/he refers you to. :)

    Sorry about the injury.

Compression, Ibuprofen (with food) and get to your Doctor as soon as you can and have it checked out as the actual cause could be simple enough, just very painful. The ultimate treatment will depend on the nature of the injury which no-one on the internet can diagnose!

Ouch.. Hope it isn't serious, like a torn meniscus. Yeah, see a doctor.

Anyway.. stiff-leg deadlifts, holding something heavy. Instructions are on Youtube. Don't do them daily! Do them every second day.

On the other hand, if you're trying to shrink your butt, google "spot reduction myth".

More than likely the injury happened to bad form on the squats. Multiple squats in a row just set the most people off in form as they fatigue. Part of the reason I don't like this particular challenge.
Glute lifts will help, but you do have to kneel down to do them.

My advice is to dump the challenge until you're sure that your squat form has been assessed and corrected by someone who is a professional in fitness.

Thanks All. Knee is not as painful now as it has been. Figured I am just doing them wrong.
Have different exercises to do now, less impact on the knees so see how they go.

whatever exercises you do for your butt, and there are tons, make sure your glutes are fired/engaged the whole exercise . You can do an entire butt exercise and get no benefit from it, if you aren't activating that muscle. and get your form fixed on your squat.

    Yup.

Because my advice is to take some aleve, and get back to the squatting. It's just bodyweight. There's a problem to be resolved if you can't handle bodyweight.
