Will I ever get abs?

Hi All!

I am currently down 270lbs from a high of 320lbs. I am a mother of three and have had cesareans with all of my kids. I also have PCOS and carry most of my weight in my belly. My question is, is it reasonable to think I will ever have a flat stomach with abs and all? I've heard that women with c-sections have a harder time getting a flat midsection and I imagine that my PCOS doesn't help. Am I destined to have a jiggly tummy no matter how much I weight train and exercise? I would especially love to hear from others with similar profile who successfully attained a flat tummy!

I was wondering the same thing, I only have one child and I have the flappy skin on my stomach.

Ab visibility has much more to do with fat loss than exercise. At 270 its not something to lose sleep over.

youre missing the point of my question: i basically wanted to know if my cesareans and the fact i have a PCOS will adversely impact me obtaining abs.

You may not get "abs". Some people genetically are not able to get a 6 pack. BUT with a lot of hard work you can have a strong, tone tummy.

You may be able to get abs, you may not. Nobody here can actually tell you that. But if you don't work consistently at it then you'll never know. I will say that if you currently weigh 270lbs you should probably set yourself some smaller intermediate "NSV" goals (e.g. fitting into X item of clothing or being able to run a 5k in Y time or squat Z amount of weight) because the journey from where you are right now to getting a six pack is going to be pretty long and arduous.

EDIT: having said that, here's some inspiration for you — http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/comment/31388354/#Comment_31388354

There's really no way to tell, but to actually get down to the body fat % needed to see them and see.
Many people in life who are successful (monetary, fame, athletics, etc), NEVER thought that they would have been that successful. If they let doubt set in before even starting, they wouldn't be where they are now.

I had 2 c-sections with 21 months in between, less than 18 months ago. I have abs, so it is possible. BUT I eat a healthy diet that is low in calories, low in carbs, and make pretty much everything from scratch every day. I also workout 5 to 6 days per week.

Everyone has a different body, so no one can tell you if you'll be able to achieve that goal or not. But with lots and lots of hard work, you'll definitely get closer and more importantly, get much healthier and stronger to enjoy activities with your children in a body in which you are more comfortable than you are at the moment.

Keep working on it, and congrats for your 50lb weight loss! That's a great achievement!

Well good news is you do already have abs otherwise you wouldn't be able to stand, you just have to continue with eating in a calorie deficit and eventually you will get there as you shed fat. Patience is key as you didn't add the weight overnight nor will you lose it overnight.

From my experience I've had a couple surgeries down there that are much more evasive and than a c-section. One scar is 10-11 inches in length from the belly button down with my abs completely cut during the surgery. You can tell from my profile pic although I'm mid-cut currently with about 5lbs to go to shed my pooch on lower abs region its certainly possible to have visible abs after surgery.

You actually have abs now, they’re just concealed under fat and, perhaps loose skin. Given the amount of weight you’ve lost, it is possible the skin won’t retract to a point you’re wanting. It isn’t the c-section, it is going from 320 lbs to where you are now.
