Coffee has calories?

I was not logging my coffee, but started today. I had no idea there were 4 calories per 8 ounce cup. I'm limiting my coffee now anyway. Yeah, 3 to 4 cups/day is less than I was drinking:)

If a cup of coffee has FOUR calories, that means TWENTY FIVE cups would have to be consumed to even make 100 calories.
That's a LOT of coffee!!0 -
I don't log my coffee, but i log the cream that i put in it. 8 calories per day for the two cups i drink is basically nothing.0

I'm not really worried about the 4 calories in a cup of coffee...there are bigger fish to fry.0

I believe, the caffeine in coffee raises your BMR, and will therefore negate the 4-cals per cup.
However, milk and sugar add up, so that's all I bother to count.0 -
I have to cut down anyway for better sleep at night, but it's tough. I have to have a tbsp. of dry Coffeemate and that's 30 calories, bam. Three to four cup's a day max. Once I'm down to my goal I won't be so ocd on this and I know I will get back into ocd on walking and exercise 'cause its too awesome:)0

4 calories, you burn that putting the K-Cup in the machine or taking the mug out of the cupboard or walking from your car to she coffee shop. That really isn't something you should be concerned over. If you are adding milk/cream, sugar etc to all your coffees then we could say that could easily add up but 4 calories is nothing.
I agree and I do add 1 tbsp. of (30 cal/each) and 3 splendas which logs at 3 to 4 calories each. I won't obsess so much as I start getting into the journey deeper. Only on day 9 (signed back up 10 days ago).0 -
I use the non-asterisked MFP entry for "Coffee - Brewed from grounds" which tracks with the entry in the USDA Foods List database for "14209, Coffee, brewed from grounds, prepared with tap water."

I'll do the "jig" while making coffee to burn the extra cal's still gonna log them tho, i'm neurotic lol0

how much coffee do you drink to be concerned about it? LOLOL now, the creamer or sugar or milk or however you 'fix' it - sure but the coffee itself? no biggie. LOL0

Coffee may have only 2-4 calories, but the creamer and the sugar used can add up pretty quick. OP- do you drink your coffee black?
Edit- I just realized you answered someone else with what you put in your coffee0 -

Maxwell House doesnt even have a nutrition label anywhere on its packaging. It has zero calories as far as I'm concerned.0

I dont log my coffeemate either but i should log it or drink my coffee black. I don't feel any 'should' to log coffee though.

There's approximately 1 calorie per 6 oz of coffee, according to Google, which sources the USDA. I wouldn't sweat it. I log it, but not for the calories. I log it because I like to see everything I consume, and it's just habit at this point.0

Pretty much what I am attempting to do. I want to keep myself in check. I have been consuming food and coffee with out shame for the past 3 or so months I am amazed I did not gain more than I did :P

I was going to try to drink my coffee black, but just decided to have it the way I do. I so enjoy my coffee in the morning and can't do it straight first thing.

The tiny calorie-count of coffee comes from the oils from the coffee beans. Mine is straight black with half a 20 oz cup filled with coffee and the other half with hot water. I then add 5 Splenda packets. All in all, from 2.3 to 4-something calories. I'll have as many as two by noontime. Even in my losing phase, I wasn't at all worried about calories from that anymore than I was from Dr Pepper Bold (with 10 calories).0

Now my continuing to comment back on this, is just me procrastinating my 'nother half hour walk....brrr it's cold out and this coffee is soooo good right now:P OK, i'm almost done and gunna get my shrinking but outside and start walking0
