Protein pancakes have gone to s**t

One serving of Oat meal flour (half a cup of regular oats ran through a food processor), one egg, and protien powder. I'd also recommend a little vanilla extract and baking soda or they will be really dense.0

I'd make pancakes to eat, then save the protein for a shake or I'd make pancakes and add a small amount of protein to the mix...Generally tho' I like peanut butter on pancakes, so that is how I get my protein in that meal.0

Time to go shopping me thinks, how thick should the consitency be? Should it be "I aint letting this muder fuding spoon go" thick or should it be "imma wanna be drippier then titanic"?0

Somewhere in the middle... at least for regular pancakes. It should pour with the same consistency as liquid soap, more or less. Thicker will make fluffier pancakes, thinner will make flatter.
Again, not sure about your "science experiment" pancakes, but for regular pancakes, you pour the batter into a hot, oiled pan, and then wait until the side that you can SEE is full of bubbles. Then, you flip it and cook it for roughly the same amount of time.0 -

My fav;
4 eggs
Box of cottage cheese
100g oats
Dash extra skimmed milk
Pinch of salt
Mix it in a blender til smooth, leave for 4-5 hours or over night. Makes about 4 thick pancakes, serve either savory (I use a handful of parmesan, herbs, black olives and tabasco) or sweet (honey and cinnamon). Yum.0 -
this is my favourite

alternatively, normal pancakes plus bacon for protein!0 -
low calorie pancakes
3/4 cup whole wheat flour
· 1/3 cup unsweetened applesauce
· 1/2 tablespoon baking powder
· 1/2 cup fat-free buttermilk or 1/2 cup skim milk, with 1/2 tsp lemon juice mixed in
· 1 egg white, lightly beaten
· 1/2 tablespoon cinnamon
· 1 -1 1/2 teaspoon no-cal artificial sweetener ·
DIRECTIONS;
1.Mix all ingredients until smooth.
2.Note: Batter will be kinda thick. If it is too thick for you, add a tablespoon of water at a time until desired consistency.
3.Heat a large skillet or griddle that has been sprayed with non-stick butter flavored cooking spray.
4.Spoon two good sized heaping tablespoon fulls of the batter into the skillet per pancake and spread out slightly. Let cook like a regular pancake and then flip, allowing to cook another minuet or so. Serve.

That's because it's not a pancake - it's a protein shake omelette.
Yah. I had me one of those yesterday. *vom*
I can't seem to get protein baking down either. I try a "delicious" recipe everyone is raving about and... *vom*
It's so sad, I'm all pumped and excited to try these creations and nothing NOTHING to date has been even moderately bearable. Then I wash the pans and utensils in my own damn tears.
But I will soldier on and try some of these suggestions. *stiff upper lip*0 -
Ingredients:
• 1 cup almond meal
• 2 eggs
• 1/4 cup water (for puffier pancakes, you can use sparkling water)
• 2 T oil
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 1 T sweetener
Preparation:
Mix ingredients together and cook as you would other pancakes. I like to use a non-stick pan with a little oil. The only real difference is that they won't "bubble" on top the same way as regular pancakes. Flip them when the underside is brown.
Serve with sugar-free maple syrup, Easy Three Berry Syrup, strawberry topping, or other low carb topping.
Yield: Six 4-inch pancakes
Nutritional Information: Each pancake has 1 gram effective carbohydrate, plus 2 grams of fibre, 6 grams of protein, and 155 calories.
They not too bad0 -
2 Eggs
Scoop protein
Half a banana maybe some milk (almond/hazelnut,soy whatever you prefer)
seems to work well
or if i prefer a 'proper' one
2 eggs
scoop protein
1 tbs coconut flour/ground almonds
find it mixes better with a fork than a spoon
and use real butter to grease the pan0 -
Hey all,
I saw some great recipes for pancakes that you can include your protein shake in. So I gave it a shot!
I stuck in 1 scoop of anabolic matrix protein shake, 2 eggs and about half a cup of milk with some raisins (which I wont do again after seeing how many carbs were in those little bi***es)
I lightly oiled the pan with butter and let it heat a little, poured in the mix and waited a while. The thing just stuck to the dang pan and fell apart the moment I so much as poked it. Ended up with scrambled egg protein thingy... I tried my second pancake with more oil.. sunflower oil (making them even more unhealthy) and the second one just went black on one side and fell apart again.
Guide me oh wise ones on how I make these dang pancakes properly.. I am confuddled and I feel like a bit of a tard right now.
Thanks
but i make amazing other kind of pancakes (that are sort of healthy) and here is what works for me-
1. do not over mix the batter
2. i let my batter sit over night in the fridge. yes, that means you have to plan ahead:noway:
3. let the pan heat up, butter/spray it, and then lower to medium.
4. pour the batter and let it cook till it's ready. for regular pancakes that means that it starts to set and you start to see craters on the top surface. if you try to flip it before, you will get the afore-mentioned scrambled mess.
5. the second side will cook much faster.
6. "you are forgetting the first pancake phenomenon mr. nash" (rory gilmore, sorry couldn't resist)...0 -
bump for that dude's blog link. found a bunch of good recipes on there.0

lol! this is funny....i tried my first shot at protein pancakes today (1 scoop whey protein powder, 1 egg, 1/2 cup of almond milk & 1/2 cup oats). the end result? looked like POOP, i mean PURE gross! i had to add some regular pancake mix to make it look appealing! i'll stick to getting my protein another whey (get it?!?!?!?)0

If no one else has suggested this yet - ditch the protein powder pancakes.
If you want tasty higher protein pancakes try making cottage cheese pancakes - several recipes to be found w/ Google.
If you want more fiber and vitamins, etc, make this recipe: http://www.pbfingers.com/2011/09/16/banana-bread-protein-pancakes/. Just be sure that your banana is really ripe or all you'll taste is plain oatmeal. I like to add vanilla extract, almond extract, and cinnamon to the base recipe. You might also consider adding some baking powder because while the pancakes come out looking like normal pancakes and have a nice taste, they are more dense. That's my next experiment with this recipe.0 -
i eat pancakes every couple of months. sometimes home made, sometimes from a jug mix... sometimes with maple syrup, sometimes with nutmeg syrup. of course i haven't lost an ounce in years so i better shut my yap0
