Most accurate type of scale

Was wondering if anyone knows which scale is more accurate: a dial or a digital. I'm guessing digital but I have one and last week it gave me several different readings not within range of each other. It is very old (about 6 yrs) and I just chnaged the battery so maybe that will help. But which one is the best?

The most accurate is a balance scale. Dial and digital scales are essentially the same technology as each other but the digital is easier to read. Potentially, you could have a dial that is more accurate than a digital, or vise versa, depending on how well it is made.0
