Can someone please enlighten me on recipes that my 2,4 and 12 year old will eat? Don't want to do double meals a lot. TIA

I so feel your pain. lol I try to blog about Family-Friendly options while I try to lose weight. I have, over the years, using Weight Watchers, found recipes that work for all of us and have figured out my points for those, but I also have no problem turning rotisserie chicken or chicken recipes or steak recipes that hubs and I, and maybe one or two of my kids, will eat quickly into a quesadilla for the one who won't. I'll also buy some Tyson gluten-free lightly breaded chicken tenders to have on hand and throw in the oven while I'm working on something else. Sometimes I just say "Make yourself a sandwich." because I need to focus on myself more right now. I'll always have raw cut fruits, veggies, and salads that I know they will eat out on the table. As long as I have one thing on the table they can eat, it's less stressful.

What have you all been eating up to this point?
Can you make what you have been eating healthier?
    Will they eat vegetables?
    What are you eating?

My 12 year old will eat everything bar salad n frozen veg. My 4 year old is pretty much the same but doesn't like spicy food. N 2 year old eats like a bird, so frustrating... Usually we have meat n veg whether it fried or roasted, or casseroles. I have only just started watching what we eat, after just cooking whatever is going. Just hoping to find recipes that the kids will love n be be better for them to.

Trying to get into the habit of not being so unhealthy and installing good eating habits with the kids too. My boys have their dads build, but my girl is going to have weight issues like myself n already has a love/bad relationship with food.

I am a big advocate of soups, stews, and chili. There's so many kinds you can find something for everybody, even the low calorie ones are filling, and a lot of them are really easy to make. Serve with a starch if desired (a lot of times I don't even bother with a grain/starch in or with the soup though) and done. Soup is dinner at least once a week in my house.

Also, what types of cuisine do you and your family like? Just typical American? Mexican? Italian? Chinese? Indian?

If you can find tortillas or wraps, they make decent low calorie pizzas. My two year old loves soups. She's been resistant to "healthy" but I've just kept giving it to her and she's eating better. Breakfast at least is easy, generally all she wants is strawberries and blueberries.

I LOVE New Zealand! (very jealous) My little guy, who is almost three, eats everything we eat. Also, every night we have the option for dessert (usually a small treat) and if he'd like it, he needs to eat his plate. I never make two meals. I know this sounds like a terrible idea (rewarding clean plates, etc) but it plays out better than it sounds, because there is no pressure and the treats are always very small, homemade cookies, or hot cocoa or something like that.

Taco bars are popular, because we can make whatever kind of taco we want. Last night I made sweet potato gnocchi and veggie sausage (we usually do "Meatless Monday!"). Tomorrow is bison shepherds pie. Chicken pot pie, stir fries, homemade pizza, chicken in a crockpot are all standard menus. I make everything from scratch, using whole, organic ingredients when possible. I measure and count everything and have been able to continue to enjoy cooking and eating while loosing weight.

Whenever I can involve him in the cooking or prep I do!

    Good luck!

I have used panko crumbs w egg whites to make home made chicken nuggets. You do use oil but just very little. Cut chicken small , dip in seasoned egg, dip in panko. Coconut oil. Flip each nugget after brown on each side, layer in pan w lid. After each layer squeeze lemon and sprinkle w Parmesan cheese. Continue layering. Cover w lid and bake in oven until cooked thru. The whole family loves these.
