Restart?

Why is it so hard to hit the restart button?

I started this journey in 2011 weighing over 250 pounds (my highest was actually back in 2001, hitting 290). I cleaned up my diet, eating pretty healthy for a long time, and exercised regularly as well, getting down into the 170s.

Then, in Fall 2012, I went back to school (for my Ph.D.). I was also working full-time and the commute to University was 90 minutes each way - all of which helped to make the whole diet & exercise thing fall apart.

Waking up at 5am, going to work til 4pm, driving straight out to University for 3 hours of class, then driving home and getting there around 10pm... man, derailed! I've gained back 36 pounds of the 70+ that I originally lost.

I KNOW I can be successful, because I was before. I don't know why it's so hard to get back on track, especially now that I know what needs to be done (having figured it out, after much trial and error, the first time).

It's tough, tough, tough!

Its really tough, you'll get there, you are doing the right thing by looking into possible solutions and at least trying to get back on track....YOU CAN DO THIS!!!

Thanks: I've definitely been re-evaluating my situation. For the next school year, I'll be moving closer to campus and reducing my workload from full-time to about 3/4 time. Both of those things should help. Although, it's been "summer break" for me for two weeks and I've only worked out twice!

I think part of the problem is also psychological. I turned 30 this year (in April) and it's affected me more than I thought it would. I seriously worry constantly about getting injured, having an "old man" metabolism, etc. Of course, that's all mental and I know it - but sometimes that's the hardest part!
