Single Muscle Group vs. Alternating Muscle Groups? Which works better for you?

Most workouts in general are focused on one or more muscle groups. But is it better to focus on just one or alternate between them. For example, on a certain day of your routine you work back and biceps. Is it better for you to focus on your back then move to your biceps? Or is it better to alternate?
