Hi everyone,

I was talking to a friend of mine a little while ago about me being stuck and she said I should try a binge day to jump start my metabolism. She has lost a lot of weight doing this. She said she would eat between 1400-1600 calories a day but when her weight loss slowed or stopped she would go up to about 2200 calories just for one day. She said after this "jumpstart" she would start to lose again. While I'm a little frustrated right now I'm going to stick with following TDEE -20% and exercise but I am curious if anyone else has ever heard of this.

A lot of people more qualified than me can probably tell you why calorie cycling works. I don't know the science behind it, but for me varying my calorie intake every so often - in other, words, eating an extra few hundred calories several days a week, has proven to be a good practice. I wouldn't call that a binge, though! As long as your weekly numbers average out to a deficit, you'll be OK. If nothing else it'll keep your routine from getting too boring.
