Yesterday I posted a thread saying I will try to eat sweets in moderation while keeping them in the house... http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10093065/scared-of-trying-moderation

UPDATE TO THAT THREAD:

Yeah...uh....I think I'll stick to just keeping them out of the house and buying single portions...because epic fail. Again. Haha

I don't count it a fail if you learned a lesson.

While I think it is generally a good strategy to be careful about what you keep in your home and office, I would say that you really haven't given this a fair shot. It takes hard work to develop moderation with food. You need to learn to understand what makes you more vulnerable to overdoing it, you need to learn what balance of foods works for you, you need to learn how to get back on track when you slip, and you need to learn that you CAN control yourself with food. That doesn't happen in one day.

Theres no shame in that. I can't keep treats in my house either :( I just have no self control, haha. If I want a treat I'll get myself something at work, and avoid overeating that way.

I just have to recognise that I'm prone to binging. It's easier to stay far away from things that tempt me to eat an entire bag of them.

It's good to learn moderation, but I'm not going to worry about that until I'm at a maintenance weight. It's stressful enough staying at a calorie deficit and working out everyday in addition to regular life things.

I can't keep chips in the house, if I do buy them I give them to my husband and he locks them in his car. As far as sweets I bought a tool box and a lock. I have them all locked up until I think I need some, the key is in a separate area so I have to think about what I'm getting instead of them just being there in plain view.

^^ This! As long as you learn something from it, it's not a fail :)
