twisted ankle - advice please!

Hi I'm after some advice!
I was just doing a workout at home (a Jessica smith walking one) but I was jogging rather than marching and I lost concentration and my ankle rolled to the side. I stopped the workout, removed shoes and socks and sat for a couple of minutes, checked it could bear weight and then - stupidly or not - resumed my workout albeit a LOT lighter (no jumping, jogging, heavy steps etc). My ankle is quite sore when I point my toes or pull them back and I am limping whilst I walk although it can bear weight.
My question is how should I treat this? My ankle sprains easily but I'm not convinced as it isn't swollen, last time I sprained badly I couldn't bear weight for over a week and then remained on crutches for a further 6 weeks so its nothing like that. However it IS painful and I don't want to do more damage to it. I suspect it is a mild sprain at most. I have a 3 year old so resting is mostly out of the question - you know how it is!
Should I apply hot/cold? Soak in the bath? Dig out my ankle support to wear whilst walking? Any advice would be great, especially as I am supposed to be out trying bridesmaid dresses on tomorrow and at the hen do this weekend.
Thanks in advance!

For the frequent rolling and twisting consider having a review by a podiatrist. I was a frequent ankle roller and twister on my right side, so much so I have permanent swelling. I have particularly high arches with both feet and some other structure issues on the right foot. Orthotics have made the world of difference and I haven't rolled or twisted the ankle since wearing them.
Ankle support is paramount.
Do you have access to lectric soda...use the reduce swelling info...works well

No exercise walking for a few days, incidental only.0 -

Thank you for replying, this particular ankle has sprained at least 3 times, each one worse than the other, although the last time was over 4 years ago as I became a lot more careful once I was pregnant.
I'll pop out and get a new ankle support and no more exercising this week and I'll try and keep the walking to a minimum tomorrow.
Don't think we have that in the UK but I'll double check. It doesn't look like much swelling, if any at all, but its definitely not easing and in fact is feeling more painful now so I'll have a chat at the pharmacy as well.
I will definitely look into getting this checked out as it is always the same ankle and I don't want to do some serious damage. Thanks for taking the time to reply!0 -
I play netball so quite used to doing damage to my ankles. Whenever I hurt one, I apply ice (on for 20 minutes, off for 20 minutes and repeat) to reduce the swelling and then tightly bandage it. Try and elevate it above your heart when resting and just ease up on anything that could cause it to get worse. If you're worried about rolling it again, I'd definitely suggest an ankle brace when exercising0

I would rest it until it feels right, and use the ankle support for the a couple of walks, as for hot/cold, if it is not swollen I like to use heat, as to me anyway heat gets the blood to flow.0

Thank you both after inspecting both ankles it does look a little puffy so when I get in from picking my son up I will elevate and ice it and definitely get an ankle support, particularly for tomorrow which is, unfortunately, unavoidable.0
