Hello guys and gals. So I've been doing pretty good in the weight loss department over the last few months and now want to start getting back into the gym and lift weights. I've lifted weights in the past while I was in the Marines and sporadically throughout the last few years but nothing consistent enough.

What I was planning on doing was going to the gym on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday. One day was going to be chest, biceps, and triceps. One day would be Shoulders and back. One day for legs.

What I'm not sure of is what is the best way to lift. Should I go heavy with low reps or go for medium-high reps(8-10).

I'm looking to just get stronger in general and as I lose weight to have my muscles show more.

If I'm all jacked up in my plans please let me know. I'm open to most idea's. Especially from you all who probably have a lot more experience than I do in the gym.

If strength is your primary goal, then yes - keep reps low. 3-5 sets, 3-8 reps per set.

Your plan is fine. It's probably not the most efficient since you'll only be hitting each body part 1x week, but it'll certainly work.

I prefer compound lifts (squats, deadlifts, rows), heavier weights, lower reps.

Look up, "fierce 5 weight training" or "stronglifts 5x5"
