cardio with strength training questions

I've been reading from several members that cardio is good but needs to be paired up with strength training so you're burning calories even when you're not on the machines for cardio. my question is that if i can't afford a gym membership, how does one strength train? what kind of things can be used in a house to help with strength training if i can't get access to free weights and and weight machines?

I got a few cheap sets of dumbbells from Target. Check out Marshalls/TJMaxx as well, they often have dumbbells and such for amazing prices.0

Google body weight exercises. No equipment necessary.
