HRM choices

Hello all. I am looking into getting a new heart rate monitor. Was just curious which would be the best choice to go for. Some sites I visited said chest strap, others said wrist band bc of signal interference. Thanks!

Accurate HR data requires a constant read device. Most of those are chest strap models with a few of the newer optical arm mounts providing similar HR accuracy (Mio, TomTom Cardio, Adidas, Scosche Rhythm + ). "Best" is a very subjective term. What activities you do comes into play. If you just want HR data, it becomes a matter of interface preference. If you want caloric estimates from it (and all an HRM can do is estimate calories burned, they do not measure them) then the watch or app becomes more of a factor and you'll want to look for one that can either input or approximate heart rate reserve, VO2 max, etc.0 -
I have a Polar HR7 and I love it! It is a chest strap monitor with Bluetooth capabilities to allow it to communicate with my phone once I downloaded the Polar Beat app. I like having it paired with my phone because it makes it easier to see my calorie burn during my workout (can set it on the elliptical or treadmill).0
