Hi I am after a calorie burning monitor to wear during exercise so I can get a correct gage of cals burnt. I welcome any ideas. I dont own an iphone/pad. Are there any wrist types out there at a good price.

Thank you

What type of exercise are you doing?

Speaking very generally, all devices are just going to estimate calories burned and aren't guaranteed to be any more or less accurate than a website's estimate (like MFP) or what a cardio machine might tell you.

To your question, Garmin, Suunto and Polar all make decent products. The newer batch of activity monitors are supposedly better, but I haven't had good luck with their durability (admittedly, I'm pretty hard on my gear).

Look at those brands, find something that has the features you want, and give it a shot. Just remember the part about it all being an estimate.

  • Thanks guys, I have used the guide on MFP and always try to keep under my calorie allowance even after exercise input,..will have a ponder and see if it is worth the expense. I have in the past had expectations of myself and fallen off the wagon, this time im here in the right place, the right frame of mind and will achieve my goals..thanks for your reply, I appreciate any help x
