Does anyone use the CYBEX Arc Trainer? Any positive results?

And has had any success with losing weight from it? I recently started getting into going to the gym. I go as fast as I can on the "weight loss" option. I'm only up to being able to do 15 minutes on it, with a calorie burn of 160. The HRM gets as high as 198... Which doesn't seem too good. Is this because I'm overdoing it for someone that just got into working out? Oh I should also add that I'm 5'7 and weight 171lbs

    Ah! Well that stinks. I guess maybe I should slow down my pace so I don't overwork myself too quick. And just go a steady pace for an hour, that'll probably burn way more calories anyway I think.

    Yes, a few times a week, and get a great burn. I wear a HRM to track calories burned as well. Typically there is a difference between my HRM and machine read outs though.

    Yeah I need to invest in one! So weight loss is possible with it if I go at least three times a week and possibly aim for an hour?

    Weight loss comes mostly from what you eat. The ArcTrainer is good for exercise. It's easy on the knees and gets your heart rate up, which is great for blood pressure.

    It's a very efficient way to burn calories. I just discovered the ArcTrainer a month or two ago after seeing another MFP friend use it frequently. Even taking into account that all machines overestimate calories, I get a very large burn on the ArcTrainer compared to the same amount of time doing another machine.
    It's even higher than running, and it's easy on the joints. I think it definitely burns more than a regular elliptical, and it even burns more calories per minute than Zumba, and that's hard to beat, lol. The ArcTrainer is my new go-to machine!
    For example, according to the machine, I can burn about 650 calories in 50 mins on the ArcTrainer. Even assuming that's a high estimate, it's a good burn.
    Of course your calorie burn depends on the incline and level you choose, and how much you weigh.

    In other words, yes you could totally use the ArcTrainer to lose weight, along with staying within your calorie goal! :)
