South Beach Diet - Anyone Ever Done an Adjusted Version?

Right now I'm on phase 1 (end of day 4 out of 14) of South Beach.

I've also tried eating Paleo and done a Keto way of eating... Which these diets don't really suppress how many good fats you can have... Where as South Beach does...

So... I've kind of adjusted it to be more of a South Beach-Keto diet... So for phase 1 I've been sticking to low/no carbs and no sugar... But I've been allowing myself to have "fattier" meats (such as beef, bacon, etc)... I was wondering if this would still work, even though it's not necessarily "advised" for phase one (it works fine for those in the Paleo or Keto lifestyles)...?

Also, what's your take on using gluten-free items or coconut flour/almond flour for treats during phase 1...?

Thanks for the input!
I'd also like to add that I'm pregnant, so keep that in mind before suggesting any other ways of eating. The South Beach Diet was approved by my doctor for maintaining/losing weight during my pregnancy.

Then you wouldn't be doing South Beach. It's fine to make up your own plan. I'd not have the treats in Phase 1. The idea is to get rid of cravings.

Your doctor recommended that you use a ketogenic diet to lose weight during pregnancy? Or your doctor recommended South Beach and you are making adjustments to make it ketogenic?

My doctor recommended The South Beach Diet, in which phase 1 of the diet is actually more restrictive than a basic Ketogenic diet (but it only lasts two weeks) so I was just thinking for this first phase of SBD I could do kind of a ketogenic tweak (so that I'm allowed good fats) to the diet... which may end up being healthier for me anyway since I'm pregnant... but I wasn't sure if I'd still maintain/lose weight... but so far so good... I woke up and decided to weigh myself this morning and in down 3 lbs... so I guess even with adding more fats that recommended it's working :)
