I am doing at least 3-4 hours of hard digging today, with laying of garden shingle etc and have looked on MFP and it only comes up with general gardening. I know with my task ahead its pretty tough going and dont own a calorie monitor...anyone with any ideas or wisdom to whhat my expenditure could be?? Much appreciated

If you want to use an activity that is already in the Exercise Database, you could choose "shoveling snow" as an alternate.
MFP uses metabolic equivalents for tasks (METs) as a multiplication factor to estimate Calories burned for activities. The METs for each activity is based on a general population per body weight and can vary for an individual.
Gardening, general, mets value="4.0"
Shoveling snow, mets value="6.2"0
