no just sticking to 1500 calories, i just dont understand how much i should be eating but im obsessed with exercising and then i struggle to east more than 1500

So this might seem like a harsh question but here goes . . . so I get that exercise high too - I'm at the gym 5 days/week, I in training for my first race in April, I push until I feel like puking. I get it - totally do. But if you got to be 147lbs at 4'11 . . . which I don't know if that's big or small on your frame . . . how do you struggle to eat more calories than you should? Someone suggested 1500 may be maintenance for you, but if you got to place where you're over the weight you want to be at, you had to be eating more than your body needs. That's just the math.

So maybe you're eating a little more than you think?

because when i was pregnant i use to eat loads because i was hungry and now im left overweight. it is big on my frame, but i think your right maybe im eating more than i think because i dont weigh my food or anything. i just try and make rough estimates.

    We've found the problem.

    Yep.

OP are you breastfeeding? If so you would likely need more calories even if wanting to lose weight.

If you are breastfeeding, you really need to take care of your macro nutrient requirements...you need to be eating healthier dairy, proteins, fruit and veg, good fats.

Calorie deficit, regardless of what you eat maybe okay for weight loss...but what you are actually eating isn't great for health overall. Nothing wrong with occasional treats at all, but 'treat' type foods shouldn't comprise a good percentage of calorie intake on a daily basis.

The estimation and not weighing can make such a huge difference. I weigh now and was absolutely shocked to learn how distorted my portions were, especially for things like nuts and cereal and such. Weighing your food by the gram with a digital food scale makes the whole process a lot more predictable. You don't be able to weigh everything (and you will learn portions) but it's really helpful to keep your deficit.

How long have you been doing this without losing? It doesn't matter what you eat, as long as you're in your calorie range (though what you eat can affect fluctuations, so you have to track the overall trend). Are you weighing everything? Do you eat back your exercise calories?

for about 4 weeks and i weigh myself everyday and the scale just keeps sticking between 147 and 150 pounds. i just try to stick to the set amount 1500 calories a day, i dont understand the eating back thing.

do u think i should cut my calories down?

i had a baby 9 weeks ago so could this not be affecting it?

Some women see hormone fluctuations for quite a while after having a baby, and that can affect weight loss. I know how frustrating it can be trying to lose pregnancy weight, but your baby is still very young and I think you should focus more on taking care of yourself* and your child. A lot of women find that it takes about a year to get back to pre- baby weight, and that makes sense because it took about a year to put the weight on.

    * what I mean by that is not that you shouldn't exercise, but that you could maybe stand to eat more nutritious food, and cut back a little of the workouts.

How would I know if I'm having hormone fluctches?

Here is a list of symptoms written by an OB: http://news.health.com/2014/09/19/5-signs-your-hormones-are-out-of-whack/

Even if they aren't fluctuating that bad, some people are very sensitive to even being a little off. The main point of my post though is that you need to be patient, and take good care of yourself. Another thing that can hinder weight loss is not getting enough rest.
