Unsure how this works

I'm new to my fitness pal and not real sure how community works. I have put on 50 lbs due to some surgeries and health issues and they need to go before they lead to more. Couple that with a move a few years ago that took me away from most family and friends (my support) and I have really been struggling. My weight is at its highest and I feel at my lowest. This is where I am today and hoping this tool can work as encouragement and support to the long road ahead. Sorry this sounds so depressing. Guess it would have been simpler to just say "hi".

Welcome to MFP! I don't visit community often but I am going good to try to do so more often. I use to travel with my husband while he worked it was me and our daughter and that is when I gained weight. I can relate to what you are talking about. This app does help so you should feel good about taking this step. Good luck on your weight loss journey you are not alone!0

Hi and welcome!
You might want to check out some of these discussion threads - some are long and you don't have to read every single post, but they are well thought out and have great advice.

You will find all sorts of people here. Some are blunt and not prone to warm fuzzy cuddly type communication. Some will be the opposite. Some use sarcastic humor to get their points across, some are very serious. Some interpret the bluntness as "an attack" or "meanness." I recommend that you take everything with a grain of salt and not insert tone in anything you read....
Ultimately the key to your success is you...your resolve, your dedication. You have to want this more than anything, and learn how to accurately log your food. ALL of your food.0 -
Thanks! These are a great start. Appreciate the guidance. Makes it not so overwhelming. Thanks to both of you0
