I would consider finding a personal trainer to help you, especially if it's your first time in the gym. When I was in college all students got to join the gym for free, and all new comers were automatically assigned a personal trainer to make sure they 1) knew what they were doing (used the equipment correctly), 2) didn't hurt themselves, & 3) knew how to safely achieve their goals. If your gym offers personal trainers (without paying extra) then that would be the way I would go, but if not then I would try to find one within your budget.0
