Spin Shoes...Advice on my little paranoia?

My feet kept hurting in spin class since I started going 2x a week. I decided to get spin shoes and my instructor suggested cleats (SPD SMH-56). While my feet didn't hurt anymore, I kept worrying my cleats will unclip will sprinting or doing jumps so I focused more on trying not to move my feet so I wouldn't unintentionally unclip from the pedals. I know with my cleats I just have to move my feet sideways for me to unclip. I felt a little more secure with the straps even thought it would loosen up. Any advice on how to make sure my feet wont go flying out of the pedals or am I just being paranoid? I don't want to get hurt and end up missing class because I wasn't cautious enough. Any help is appreciated!
