Hello!

I have been at this for a while now, logging food (on and off). There is some barrier to all of this and I end up feeling worse because I'm logging and seeing that I'm going over, which makes me feel guilty/bad. Has anyone been in this situation and, if so, how did they gain the motivation to actually be cautious of what they're eating (rather than just logging it and feeling like poop). I just keep gaining weight!!

How many calories has mfp given you? What goal did you input? Maybe whatever you chose (ie. 2 lb loss per week) is too aggressive for you. Start with half a pound loss per week. That way you'll be getting a lot of calories, yet you'll be losing weight.

For me, logging IS the motivation. In fact, last night, I looked at MFP three times to see what I could fit in at 9pm because I was starving. I couldnt find anything so I didnt eat anything.

^ the person above is right...start slow, take what you average intake is and subtract just a little bit and work to that. It will be slower but it will let you get in the habit and it wont be quite a shock than dumping 25% of your calories on day one.

Try logging what you plan to eat for the whole day in the morning. I do this and it helps me figure out where I can make changes to fit in snacks and foods I want to eat.

First of all, make sure your goal is not set to aggressively. Secondly, try pre logging your days and leave room for a treat. Good luck!
