How to incorporate a heavy weight lifting routine with aerobics on off days

Hi, everyone -
I take aerobics, which incorporates light weight lifting (no more than 10 pounds) in the last 20 minutes of class. I am planning on starting a weight lifting routine next week with much heavier weights. If I do that, should I not use weights in the last 20 minutes of my aerobics class? Or perhaps very light weights? Currently, I use 8 pound weights for that portion of class. I am worried about my muscles not being able to heal between rounds of heavy weights.
Any advice is appreciated! Thanks!

If you follow an established beginners barbell routine you'll be lifting relatively light for the first month or so, so it shouldn't matter at first. Frankly, I doubt that those dinky weights will hinder recovery even later on, but your body will let you know if it becomes an issue.0
