I'm looking to lose about 12 pounds by spring/summer. I'm already petite so it's a bit of a challenge. I don't like building muscle (yes, even though it burns calories faster), I simply don't want to be muscular. Really just want to slim down and tone a bit. My eating is the biggest challenge!!! I work in fast food so it's hard. Btw I love friends!!!

You must not understand how ridiculously hard it is for a woman to become "muscular"'
It's not something you can coincidentally achieve by lifting or using body weight exercises, it takes a ton of planning and hard work towards that goal.
Lifting weights will help you achieve your goal faster. At your height and the statement "... looking to lose about 12 pounds", I would guess that your actual weight does not matter COMPARED TO what your body fat %. Lift weights or use body weight exercises (look up beginner protocols or youtube workouts), do HIIT cardio 3x a week and you could blast through 12lbs OR drop body fat in less than a month.0 -

I understand what you're saying. But for me, anytime I start exercising in any way, my body gets bigger, not smaller. I've even done only cardio for a stretch of time and my legs still grew. I don't know what it is. Maybe I just need to cut more calories?0 -
Light weight full body exercises will be your best bet. You might "get bigger" for a short period as your body is pushing the fat to the surface. This process sucks, but once you push through, you will achieve your ultimate goal. Im hosting a accountability which starts March 23rd. You are welcome to join us.0
