night eating

I got a really bad habit of eating in bed at bedtime. I can't seem to break it. Does anybody have any ideas of what I can do? Stopping that habit would cure a lot of my problems with gaining weight or not losing weight. Thanks for all your help.

You could try having a protein shake before bed instead- as long as the ingredients are solid, it's unlikely to have a detrimental effect. If you're not a fan of protein shakes, then a Greek yogurt would be a good healthy choice as well.
Or if you want to cut out eating at night completely, maybe try drinking a glass of water instead, to trick your body into feeling full.

I have been told by doctors it truly doesn't matter what time you eat. Calories in vs carlories expended is the thing, simple math. Blessings.0

One easy one would be to do 1 oz of nuts (not peanuts that's a legume) like almonds (helps with sleep) and two eggs any style. Protein and fat content will keep you full - and it takes longer to digest so not prone to storing as fat. Further, the protein is a complete protein that will digest overnight and help you repair muscles. Great way to replenish the body for the morning. The nuts add fiber and that helps with bowel movements 24 hours later - nuts are insoluble fiber.0

Is it fitting into your allotment?0

That's my dangerous time, too, lois.
Day is done, get into my jammies, put my feet up and watch tv in bed for an hour or so. I used to just take the bag of chips or whatever to bed with me and then I'd be astonished when the bag was gone! I didn't even really enjoy it because it was what I call "mindless munching" - in this case, done while watching tv.
I now allot myself this snack into my overall daily intake, because without it, I'm pretty miserable. I portion out the amount of whatever it is and that's what I munch on. I also don't keep anything to eat in the bedroom - if it's all the way downstairs in the kitchen, I'm much less likely to go for seconds. As well, I pay attention to my snack now, and try to savour it. This is just as much about soothing a psychological craving as it is a physical one.0
