Whey during excercise

Hi Guys

I'm wondering about one thing. This topic might be in the wrong section, not sure.

I usually cycle to the gym which takes about 30 mins, do a short class or 2 there along with about 45 mins of lifting. I cycle home after that. I either bring some food with me to eat straight after coming out along with my protein drink, or some money/credit card to buy a bit to get me through the cycle home but was in a rush yesterday and forgot to bring anything apart from the powder, which is always in my bag. I had it before cycling back because I was absolutely starving and I'm not the kind of person who copes with a growling stomach easily.

My question is, did my body use the protein as energy for the 30 minute cycle back home or did it use it for muscle repair? It's not an easy trip either, about 1/3 of it is uphill. I wasn't sure so I had another scoop when I got home, along with my lunch as my muscles went through a lot yesterday.
Thanks in advance!
