Help with planks...

I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I don't have a mirror I can use, but I have my husband make sure I'm in the correct position and that everything is straight like it should be... but I don't feel it like I know I'm supposed to. They hurt my wrists and my arms more than my abs.
I see people on here talking about how sore their abs are after doing 1 or 2 minute planks... I have done three sets of 1 minute planks multiple times lately, and I just have sore wrists and nothing in my abs. If my form is correct, what else could it be? Am I supposed to be breathing a certain way?

Hi there! I am a yoga instructor and we do LOTS of planks in my classes... I always instruct my students to pull their belly button towards the spine, and tuck the tail bone. Imagine shortening the distance between the bottom of your rib cage and the tops of your hip bones-- almost like a crunch, but maintaining a nice neutral/straight spine. Also, your quads (thighs) should be engaged, and your eye gaze should be down and forward-- imagine drawing a straight line from tailbone through the top of your head. Very little stress/"work" should be in the arms IF you're doing this correctly. Make sure your hands are directly under your shoulder blades, with fingers spread wide, and try to imagine you're pushing the floor away from you.

Hope this helps, please let me know how it goes & if you have any more questions!!
