Hello friends,
While doing cardio i want to spent like 30 mins on treadmill...15mins running at speed of 8.5kmph and rest 15 min walking @ 6kmph. I observed that for doing so physical strenth is not a challenge, I feel bore and get off from machine. Ipod helped to stay sometimes.
Do you also face same problem, how do you folks keep yourself on cardio for long??

I'm usually too busy monitoring my heart rate and varying intensity to get bored. Between that, I watch tv or listen to podcasts.

This. Don't do cardio much anymore, but I used to watch my heart rate religiously.

I absolutely hate cardio. I mostly do pilates, yoga and ballet (barre). (By the way, that doesn't mean I hate moving around in general. I love hiking, for example.)

IMO, find what you like doing and you will want to stick with it.

I love doing cardio especially running. I get in the "zone" and honestly I totally lose track of time and usually end up with the machine stopping on me. My advice is find something you like to do that you won't feel bored doing.

I can definitely relate to this, and honestly, some days I just don't feel it.

In general, though, the iPod can be your friend. I agree with the suggestion about podcasts. This American Life is a great show with a huge back catalog to keep you company during cardio, for instance.

Another idea is to think of cardio as your Sacred Music Appreciation Time. I used to always lament not just sitting down and listening to an album with all its intricacies. My time on the treadmill or elliptical is ideal for just that! Fire up and album and really take it all in--it can be almost zen-like.

    I hate cardio

I do intervals because that's easier for me to stay focused on the goal

I listen to music - strutting confident music with a beat

Sometimes I play the Zombies Run! app

but I do cardio cos I have to and limit it to 20 minutes as a warm up for the rest of my gym workout

Ok this is going to sound sexist...but hop on a machine next to an attractive member of the opposite sex. It will keep you interested. Studies show that both sexes will try harder at a task if they think they are being observed by someone they are attracted to. just throwing that out there for a "different" perspective.

WTF? I never notice who's next to me on an elliptical or treadmill

That's in the realm of gym freak if you ask me

I watch "The View" or youtube or listen to music.
On the week-ends we get out and walk forever! Love it!
