Loving my Polar FT7!

wow I've never used a HRM before and got a great deal on Amazon last week- plus it's pink so you know... Cute. LOL
I've been doing 30 min-60 min DVDs consistently this past month and had no clue what was burning... I've been logging it in as about 200 Cals.
Imagine my shock when 45 min of barre work and stretching burned 405 calories!
So glad I bought this instead of a Fitbit or jawbone- I don't track steps or sleep but am psyched to learn what burn during working out.
Anyone else use one regularly?

I was an avid Polar Ft4 user until it crapped out on me. I upgraded to an FT7 around Xmas and I love mine as well.0

I also am a huge Polar fan. I have an FT7 right now as well. I've been looking hard at getting a Loop!!0

Love mine too...when i do workouts i minus what my resting calorie burn would be. Not sure why i am so hardcore about that but i guess i like math :-P0

That's the one I have! I don't know if this is common with every HRM... But the Polar FT7 hooks up to every treadmill at my gym so I can watch my HR while I'm working out to see if I should push myself more or not.0

Just want to point out that HRMs are only somewhat accurate for steady state cardio (running, biking, etc) for videos that are like circuits and esp stretching will over estimate by a great deal, probably at least 2 times during stretching as stretching would not burn much more than standing. I would suggest if you wear it for the video, turn it off for the stretching.0 -

Love my Polar - use it all the time. But it is not intended to be used for this kind of activity and it is lying to you about how much you are burning.
Cut that number in half - at least.

Hate to break it to you, but you still have no clue how much energy you're expending as you're using it in a way that it's not designed for. I'd suggest halving that expenditure.
I used to use a Polar FT60, but stopped as it was difficult to extract the data into a useful tool. I now use a Garmin, and it's useful as it lets me associate my HR with what I was doing; running, cycling etc.

Hi everyone, thanks for the input!
So, it's not accurate after all? Thanks for explaining this I greater detail as I'm curious to learn more.0
