I am really confused ! I posted to ask for help as MFP gave me 600 cals and I am not a new user and I said I believe it is a mistake as when I used it before I got 1200 cals and I did lose weight in a healthy way . When I got the 600cals I knew there is something wrong and it is a huge mistake as others may follow this low cal plan and end up in bad med conditions !!
Now instead of helping me fix this mistake my thread was locked and the conversation was stopped because it has a positive referral to unhealthy methods to lose wight and encourages low cal diet , anorexia and so on !!!!
I didnot encourage any of that directly or indirectly !! Or what j said is that I need help with that mistake specialy that I went through emotional related eating disorders !!
I was expecting the admins to help me fix that problem instead of deleting the discussion !
My diary is opened and u can obviously see that I have 600 cals to eat ! And from the previous thread I knew that I am not the only person ! So please help us fix this !!

I saw that thread. She's right. She was absolutely not endorsing a 600 cal daily intake. (Her recalcualted/updated daily intake came up as 600, and she was questioning how that could happen.) I recall that the gist of many posts was that MFP needed to fix that dangerous glitch -- STAT.

There are MANY things MFP needs to fix, but that one could have caused someone harm.

This is what I first posted :

well I am a bit shocked I only have 620 cal to eat aday ! I believe it is too little ! I entered al the right data !
When I first used my fitness pal about 10 month ago to Los wight after my second baby it gave me 1200 cal aday and I was able to lose a lot ! I went from 140 to 114 in a very short time . I logged out and I even continued to lose weight maybe because breast feeding ! I went down to 110 !!
I had some stressful emotional time lately and I was emotionally over eating almost every night I gained some wight almost 10 lbs and rehashed 120-125 lbs . So in order to stop this I thought about counting my cals and giving myself some rules . I logged in again and it gave me 620 cals ! I only need to lose few pounds and count my cals to stop over eating habit , I am 5'5 tall !

Yes - there is something wrong with the calculator right now. MFP normally does not give anyone less than 1200 calories. 1200 isn't necessarily a "correct" number for you either....it's normally just the lowest default number.

Look up your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure....aka maintenance) in another program. This should include exercise. Subtract 1000 daily calories if you want to lose 2 pounds a week (this is for very overweight people). Subtract 750 for 1.5 pounds....500 for 1 pound, or 250 for 1/2 pound (within 10 pounds of goal).

    Scooby's TDEE: http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/

You can override MFP and put your own numbers in here. Because this includes exercise up front....don't add exercise calories back.

And this is how the discussion Closed :

    Dear Posters,

I wanted to offer a brief explanation for the locking of this thread.

The forum guidelines include this item:

    3. No Promotion of Unsafe Weight-Loss Techniques or Eating Disorders

    a) Posts intended to promote potentially unsafe or controversial weight loss products or procedures, including non-medically prescribed supplements or MLM products will be removed without warning.
    b) Profiles, groups, messages, posts, or wall comments that encourage anorexia, bulimia, or very low calorie diets of any kind will be removed, and may be grounds for account deletion. This includes positive references to ana/mia, purging, or self-starving. Our goal is to provide users with the tools to achieve their weight management goals at a steady, sustainable rate. Use of the site to promote, glamorize, or achieve dangerously low levels of eating is not permitted.
    c) Photos intended to glamorize extreme thinness will be deleted.
    d) Those seeking support in their recovery from eating disorders are welcome at MyFitnessPal.

MyFitnessPal does not condone such low levels of eating, and this bug has been brought to the attention of the Admin. Getting the appropriate amount of nutrition eating only 600 calories a day is incredibly hard, and this diet may lead to fatigue, hair loss and other serious medical conditions.

If you would like to review the forum guidelines, please visit the following link:

    http://www.myfitnesspal.com/welcome/guidelines

At our discretion, this locked thread may be deleted entirely in the near future.

    Thanks for your understanding,

    11. No Airing of Grievances With Moderators

    a) Protesting a moderator or admin action is not allowed on the Forums or in Groups. If you have a question or concern about a moderator or admin action, please email one of the moderators or Olivia, MFP's Community Manager, with your concern and we will investigate the matter promptly.
    b) If you have concerns about another poster, or wish to report a guideline violation, the only appropriate venue is to use the Report Post link or to message a moderator or Olivia, MFP's Community Manager. You may not air such concerns on the message boards themselves. If you have a general concern that does not involve a specific member, you may post your question in the Feedback or Help forums.
    c) Threats made to moderators will not be tolerated, and will result in an immediate ban from the site.

All of the threads discussing the ridiculously low glitch calorie count are being closed in the same manner. I noticed it yesterday.

So instead of actually fixing the glitch, MFP is sending off mods to close the discussions about the unhealthy glitch goals

^This. Also, after looking at your diary, you either need to eat more or log better. You're not logging numbers much above that 600 calorie mark.

OP, everyone has agreed with you that this is an MFP error and you should be eating MORE than 620 calories a day. So please do.

The thread was locked, but it is still available to be viewed if you need to see all the advice you already got. There was one post that sounded like an endorsement of eating so few calories, I assume that is the reason for the Eating Disorder warning.

Unfortunately the moderators of the forum are not the same people who will fix the issue on the food log. All they can do is tell the technical people, which I'm sure they have.

In the meantime, you can use another online calculator to figure out how many calories you should be eating and manually change your calorie goal.

The mod who locked the thread included this in the text, due to the volume of reports we were receiving about posts in the forums with the same issue and users who were entering the threads to promoting VLCD:
MyFitnessPal does not condone such low levels of eating, and this bug has been brought to the attention of the Admin. Getting the appropriate amount of nutrition eating only 600 calories a day is incredibly hard, and this diet may lead to fatigue, hair loss and other serious medical conditions.

Until this bug is fixed, the work-around we have been given are:

    1. From a computer (not phone app), re-enter your goals into MFP.

    2. Calculate your goal using TDEE method as suggested by TeaBea, and enter that goal manually into the MFP system as a customized goal.
