My goal..... drop 50.

A little introduction since I'm new to the site. After a lot of convincing by my wife and completing my first 5k, we joined the YMCA and we are working on the Paleo Diet. I have never been in shape and after years of gaining, it is time to drop 50 pounds and finally get in shape. The goal is to work out 5-6 days a week. In the past 5 days I have already logged in 20 miles at the Y which is a huge change in my activity level and I have loved every minute of it.
I'm am also a work-at-home dad who is back in school and have I four kids. Finding time to work out might be a challenge but I am willing to make it a priority.
Feel free to add as a friend! Motivation to reach the goal is welcome.

Good for you! "that day" was eye opening for all of us. The day we finally realized we need to do something about our "style" of living. With me, it came when I stepped on a scale at the doctor's office and they had to take me out into the hall way to use the digital unit because the "old fashioned doctors scale only went to 300 lbs. That was 4 months ago and I am now committed to getting down to a weight I haven't seen in many years.
Stick with your convictions, don't expect to drop 50 lbs in 50 days, and relearn how to live. That's what it takes. It's not a diet, it's a changing of old habits. We, the folks at MFP, are struggling, you will too.but we are winning, and you will too!
