macros. where should i be at?

so im not new to the calorie counting. thats all good. i am new to this macros stuff. i try and meet my protien and fat, while not going to far over in the fat department. why? i have no clue. i rarely meet my suggested carb intake. should i be? im lost. should i up my protein if i am working out regularly and lifting weights? i am almost always under on sugar. figure thats a good thing. very confused. so far i have just been concentrating on calories but im sure this other stuff matters im just not sure how or why! thanks!

    Take a look at the Your daily goal line in your food diary. You should see recommendations for carbs, protein, and fat. You would be very well served to follow those MFP guidelines. There is some solid scientific research behind those numbers.

    oh i do. but ive heard of people adjusting them. im also wondering if going over or being under is actually an issue for each one.

    It may or may not be an issue. That's a very open ended wondering. I'm usually a little low on carbs, a little high on fat, and about on the mark with protein. I have also configured my settings so that I'm tracking fiber, but not sugar.

    I think fiber is a real important component of a healthy diet. I'm referring to natural fiber from real foods, not fiber supplements. So, eating plenty of fiber (i.e. the amount recommended by MFP) means eating plenty of veges, fruits, whole-intact grains, beans, lentils, nuts, seeds, etc.
