I found I lost weight when I started logging and found some friends..my friends help inspire me to exercise regularly...your food journey will develop along its way...good luck with your journey.

Join an accountability group. Chose a proven exercise program. And eat clean. It's a lot simpler to write it than to do it. I'm hosting a fitness accountability group which starts March 23rd. You are welcome to join us. I recently finished a round of P90X and will be starting Body Beast soon.

None of this is necessary. Accountability groups can be good, if that's the kind of thing that inspires you - or bad, if all you end up doing is comparing yourself to the others and feeling worse. Choosing an exercise program that you ENJOY and therefore will stick to is vastly superior to simply choosing a "proven" program. Weight lifting is proven to be useful and is the last thing on earth I enjoy, fitness-wise. Finally - eat what you like, just less of it. If that's "clean" fine (which, who even defines what the frack that means, anyway) but you shouldn't beat yourself up if you prefer to find ways to make it work without eliminating things you love. Work a cheeseburger or a candy bar into your daily goal, and screw "clean" eating, if you want and if it gets you to your goal... the point is to make it sustainable, however that looks FOR YOU.

Eat less, move more. Log everything you eat (and drink, if you consume beverages other than water) as accurately as possible. Eat back half your exercise calories and make sure you choose a sustainable deficit for your size.

I would suggest you look at some of the announcement posts at the top of this board. Lots of great advice for those just starting out.

Find out the calories you need to maintain your current weight.
    Eat less than this.
Exercise can help you eat more while maintaining this deficit, but be sure not to overestimate what you've burnt.

    Easy peasy

Everyone is different. I have found that I don't have much time to work out, so I try to stand more at work, and move more while cleaning at home. For me, closely monitoring my calories have helped a lot. I have bought myself a fitbit to track how many steps I am taking/ how many flights of stairs I go up a day. It also helps me better track my calories burned during the day.

    Good luck!

Consume less calories than you burn, it really is that simple. MFP makes counting calories very easy if you actually use it.
