Cheat Day and other body fake outs

Does this really work? Your experience? I guess I understand the logic of thowing the body off balance and faking it out to prevent it from storing fat for survival mode (that Darwinian thing).

I have read that plateau's occur when the body gets used to the same caloric intake and the same workouts. YET, I read where none of this matters and it is just CICO.

So I am flummoxed.....
