Nearly 800 Miles on my Treadmill Running Shoes

I know that after a certain amount of miles (300? 400?) ran on a pair of shoes you should replace them. But I have shoes that I use just for runs on the treadmill and they are nearly 800 miles. Does the same advise pertain to shoes that are primarily used on a treadmill versus outdoors? Am I doing terrible damage using these shoes? The tread on the bottom looks in pretty good shape actually but I know there is more to it than that. Thanks.

I run in my shoes until they start looking like they are falling apart - OR I start feeling niggling pains in my shins/knees. That can be anywhere from 300 miles for some shoes to 600+.

I track miles on my shoes but I don't worry too much about it.

I have 4 pairs that I rotate regularly. I make sure I wear a different pair every day. I don't keep track of mileage, but I gauge it from the way my feet / ankles / legs feel. If I start to feel pains or whatever then I know it's probably time.

I'm not sure I'd put 800 miles on one pair though! Wearing the same pair every day would be more of an issue to me. I think I'd replace them with 2 pairs and alternate if I were you.

I wear light-weigh minimalist style shoes, so I have a pair I am retiring/using rarely (and on short runs only) that I just put 400 miles on. I could tell they weren't supporting my feet properly, and I would be running on the treadmill and my ankles/shins would start to twinge a bit.

However for typical trainers with a bit more structure/support, you can put 500-800 miles on them and still run in them, but I second the suggestion to get another pair to rotate them out with. When you rotate your shoes, you give them time to breathe and they'll stay in better shape (or so I'm told). My dad runs marathons and has shoes he still runs in with over 1000 miles on them despite having something like 8 pair of shoes at his disposal next to the treadmill. It's all down to how you feel when you wear them!

I can tell by the way my legs are feeling when I am running in them. I have two pair that I alternate.
