Have any of you had to deal with broken ribs?
If so, how long before you were able to return to doing exercise? Mostly concerned with bodyweight exercise (push up, chin ups. lunges, etc.) and walking and cycling.
I have broke 2 ribs 2 days ago and right now it hurts to even walk across the room. Just wonder how long before I can start activity without pain. I know it will be some what individual, but any personal experiences would at least give me some idea.

Worry about healing. Exercise isn't going anywhere.

I broke 3 ribs a couple of years ago. I did NO exercise for many weeks. I just tried to be in less pain. I broke them in November, and returned to the doctor in January to get "cleared" to ski and run.

I broke a rib a week ago...played racquetball the following 2 days (was in tears by the end of the game), rested 2 days, played rb again (tears again), running induces tears...2 more days of rest and I really thought I could play but no, another game ended in tears...I am playing again tonight against my better judgement (it is not a severe break). Even though there is much pain, there is improvement daily so at the moment, I don't believe I am doing any further damage. Will follow up with my doc in a week to confirm.

In the mean time, sneezing and coughing can suck it.
