Does excessive Vitamin C cause stomach ache and/or digestion problems?

I like sweet, refreshing fruit, and it just so happens the fruits I primarily eat are mangoes, pineapple, and clementines/mandarins/oranges.
According to my reports on vitamin C over the past 2 weeks, I've been getting 3-5x more than my daily requirement. Consequently, I've also noticed my stomach gets upset on the days where I've had the most Vitamin C (close to 5-7x my daily requirement). When I monitored my Vitamin C intake back to 3-4x, I no longer had stomach aches.
However, I really like eating those fruits and making those mango/pineapple smoothies.
Short of restricting my Vitamin C intake, is there anything I can do to allow myself to eat lots of those fruits / smoothies again without negative effects on body?

I don't think it would be the Vitamin C specifically that is causing your digestive issues. It's more than likely the effects of the acids in the fruits along with the fiber. The acid can cause reflux and indigestion, and the fiber can cause diarrhea if eaten in excess. Just try cutting down on the fruits and smoothies for a while and see if it helps.
Excess vitamin C is filtered through your kidneys and you just pee it out.0 -
Too much fructose can cause diarrhea. Cut back on fruit.0
