I have finally been cleared to start lifting (with some modifications) I have to questions: 1) is it normal to see a stall in weight loss when beginning a strength program? I know you don't gain much muscle other than newbie stuff (which I SO am) but can it slow down your weight loss a little? I just want to know what to expect. 2) As some things in say, Stronglifts 5x5 I am not cleared for, no deadlifts yet boo, would it just be better to bite the bullet and pay a trainer to help me modify things so I don't hurt myself? I have a wonky heart and lungs, but the Doctor says I am ok to start, just certain movements make things weird for me. Thanks for any answers I get!

Because of your medical conditions, definitely work with a trainer who is qualified to build a specific programme for you.
People often gain a few lbs of water weight when starting a new programme, so yes, expect a slight weight increase. Your general fat loss as per your calorie deficit should not stall.
