Sodium And Fat Intake question

So I have been limiting my sodium intake to about less than 200g a day while the fat intake is less than 30g. It has been a week since I started. I have seen drastic changes on the weight scale, but thats probably the fluids going out of the body. I drink about 2 liters a day. Anyway, my question is....i ended up eating a salad sandwich which consisted of 360g of sodium and about 20g of fat. So I ended up hitting 560g of sodium with about 50g of fat for the day. Will this effect what I have been going for or its nothing big? Sorry I am a dummy when it comes to health related knowledge.

    UNITS (are your friend)!!

    Use them.

Yes. I like my Sodium intake to be less than 100 kg/day, right? Who wouldn't?

One meal won't really make a difference, the same way as if you ate McDonald's 6 days a week, with one day being salad wouldn't make you healthy. Don't sweat it.

For what it's worth, I found it incredibly hard to keep salt low, you're doing a lot better than I did!

Bloody hell are you sure you're not talking about percentages rather than grammes?

that is too little sodium and fat

The body cannot function without adequate sodium .. recommended intake is between 1500 and 2300mg (less if you're older than 50 I think)

And fat helps your body absorb nutrients as well as leading to increased satiety

I've just had a thread on fat and it seems that you should aim for 0.35g fat per lb of bodyweight daily

Also I think the sodium count on the MFP food diary is in mg not g (unlike the protein and fat)

    Yep, what Rabbit said.

One day of higher sodium isn't going to slow your weight loss, at worst you may retain some fluid. But you really need to increase your fat intake (obviously whilst staying within your calorie limit).

Eat more fat. The sodium is not a big deal.
